Shoot the Hills – New Print Division!
The new Print Division in Shoot the Hills is open to all ages. Unmatted and unframed prints measuring 8x10 inches may be entered, and photographers may enter any quantity. Each photograph entered must be accompanied by a separate entry form, and a $50 entry fee will be charged for each photograph entered.
Each entry will receive a blank registration form that must be completed and attached to the back side of the photograph. Please, no signatures or photographer identification on the front side of the print. The entry form includes blank lines to be completed with the following information: photographer's name, photographer's mailing address, two contact telephone numbers (primary and secondary), title of the print (if any), location of the photograph, approximate date or time period the image was photographed. Each entered photograph must be the work of the photographer who is named on the registration form. A waiver stating this will be provided upon registration.
Shoot the Hills would like to encourage photographers to submit images that showcase the Hocking Hills Region, of course. However, entries may include any subject, topic, or geographic area from any time period as long as all other contest rules are honored and the image is suitable for “family viewing" (i.e. no vulgar, offensive, or graphically violent images, please). Shoot the Hills reserves the right to disqualify any print that it believes violates these conditions.
The Print Division is not judged as a "regular" contest division, and will not be judged or graded by our panel of judges. Instead, photos are voted on by the public for a nominal ticket fee. Tickets are sold as a sheet of 25 tickets with one door prize coupon for only $1 per sheet. Proceeds from the ticket sales benefit special projects in the Park.
One winner will be named after votes are counted. The winner will receive 50% of the entry monies that are collected from the Print Division! (For example, if only 40 prints are entered, any one photograph will have a 1-in-40 chance of winning $1,000!) Payment is in a form of a check from the Friends of the Hocking Hills State Park.
Additionally, from the Print Division, one photo will be selected by the Hocking Hills Tourism Association that “best promotes tourism in Ohio’s Hocking Hills Region.” The photographer of the winning print will receive an etched glass award, entitled, “Highlight of the Hills,” and the image will be published in the official Hocking Hills Visitors Guide (230,000 copies in print annually). Twenty copies of the publication will be provided to the winner upon publication at no additional charge in exchange for this courtesy usage.
The winner of the Print Division does not have to be present to enter, but must sign an agreement that his or her image may be used for promotional purposes of Shoot the Hills and Shoppe the Hills by the Hocking Hills State Park, Friends of the Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills Tourism Association, Ohio State Parks, Time Warner Cable, and others that may be later named, without further compensation or usage fees to the photographer. However, copyright remains the property of the photographer.
Model releases and/or property releases will be required of the winning entry if applicable. Photographs will not be returned to photographers and become the property of the Friends of the Hocking Hills State Park. However, copyright of all entries do remain the property of listed photographer.
